solve for y: 6x+y=8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try putting x=1? then solve for y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y is 2

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

@mags093 x is a variable, not a constant. You cannot simply "throw in" some value to solve for y. As for this question, it means that you need to express y in terms of x, i.e y = something. Subtract 6x from both sides and you have your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

preciate it

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

y = 8 - 6x ??
