What do you mean "free radical pass". There are radical reactions and mechanisms if that's what you're referring to.

By applying UV-light and or Heat to carbon-hydrogen molecules, such as 2-methylbutane, you can start a radical reaction. Similarly, you can do the same with benzene and sodium.
