I need someones help to teach me how to understand this question. Displacement vectors of 4 km south, 2 km north, 5 km south, and 5 km north combine to a total displacement of 16 km north. 11 km west. 6 km south. 2 km south.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait would this be 16 km north?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A displacement vector is a distance that you move. North and South are opposite directions. Drawing it on a piece of paper makes it easy to visualise.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I just added them all together :/ Had no idea how to work this out. Do you think you could help me understand 1 more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I kindof understand it now. That made it easier!
