There's wolframalpha.com, but the 'show steps' requires a membership. You can get a free 30-day trial, and I think student discounts are available.

I have o idea, but I heard the student thing is maybe $2? Go and look, see if it's worth it... That's what trials are for! \o/

If you're still here, Algebra.com has an Equation Solver. 
It shows steps, instead of just answers. very helpful.
