what is inverse fast fourier transform

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An periodically varying function can be written the sum of a series of sines and cosines with different amplitudes ( J. B. Fourier 1807) . The distribution of the amplitudes is the Fourier Transform. The Fast Fourier Transform refers to an algorithm for finding the transform quickly. The inverse of a Fourier Transform is the periodically varying function. Essentially the FT can take a time described or space described function and express it as a frequency described function while the IFT reverses the process. The FFT is very useful for manipulating and analyzing periodically varying data or signals.
