A baker has a bag of flour that is 11% whole wheat and a bag of flour that is 63% whole wheat. How many cups of each type does the baker need to make 12 cups of a flour mixture that is 50% whole wheat? (2 points for the equation)(2 points for the correct mixture)

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

to get 50% whole wheat u add 11% whole wheat and 63% whole wheat in the ratio (63-50):(50-11) = 13:39 = 1:3 i.e u add 1 cup of 11% whole wheat to 3 cups of 63% whole wheat to obtain 4 cups of 50% whole wheat SO u add 3 cups of 11% whole wheat to 9 cups of 63% whole wheat to obtain 12 cups of 50% whole wheat

Woah, I understand all of that and i thank you, So what should the final answers be?

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

From this, we see n = 3 cups of 11%..........so we use 9 cups of 63%

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

do you get it or not??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not really :/. Im sorry

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

K so i did it again and found the answer! The baker will need three cups of one and nine cups of the other to make twelve cups of 50% whole wheat.

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

u got it??

OpenStudy (anonymous):
