Need Help please factor the trinomial w^2+6w-27
Have you learned the quadratic formula yet? Or synthetic division?
no i do not understand any of it im just trying to get out of this class im barely getting by
i actually wrote the wrong one
Well what's the problem then?
i adjusted it. math is the worst for me :(
I get you, same here. But first what you do is find common factors, what numbers do you know, when multiplied equal 27?
4 and 9 and 1
Actually it would be 3 and 9 and 27 and 1
right sorry
Since the 27 in the equation is negative, it means that one of the numbers is negative and the other is positive
could we do 3*(-9)
and the +6w is saying that when it is foiled out the positive number should be bigger then the negative one and yes we could
but watch out, does (x-9)(x+3) give you a positive 6?
no the 3 would have to be the negative right?
Yup :)
so then it would be (x-3)(x+9) right?
Yes
The only real challenging part is finding factors and where the pos.and neg. signs go
Hope I helped, if you have any more questions you can ask me and I'll try and walk you through it
when i punch it in it tells me its inccorrect? it does tell me to use the foil backwards? im not even sure what this means
nope nevermind i messed it up thank you you helped so much!
No problem, anytime :)
i have another one if your up to im gonna post it
