please help guys! medal rewarded:) Two polygons are similar if: A. Corresponding sides are congruent and corresponding angles are proportional B. Corresponding angles are proportional and corresponding sides are proportional C. Corresponding angles are congruent and corresponding sides are congruent D. Corresponding angles are congruent and corresponding sides are proportional
Corresponding angles are congruent and corresponding sides are proportional
so D right?:)
Congruent means equal, right? Do you agree that for them to be similar, one must be a bigger or smaller version of the other, with the same angles?
congruent angles, in other words
congruent means equal but it has a little change meaning, if the figures are placed in same direct then equal if different direction then congrunet
so do you all agree that its D?
What do *you* think it is? You're the one who needs to know, we already do :-)
Look at those answers, only one of them should make sense as a correct answer.
I think its D as well!:)
Excellent!
You'll encounter many problems whose solution will require that you understand this, so it's good to look at it and make sure you do.
yep, it takes time and practice..! lol
One physical model would be if you could copy one of the figures to a sheet of transparent paper, then hold it up in front of the other one. If you can move the paper back and forth (with both sheets being completely parallel) and make the two images perfectly match each other, they are similar. That means the angles must be congruent, and the sides proportional.
Of course the people who write the problems usually make you flip one of the items over in your head, and rotate it, and otherwise make life more difficult :-)
