If R1 is 680 ohms, 1/4 watt resistor,calculate the power dissapated by R1 and evaluate if it is operating within its safe limits. There is 10V on one end of R1 adn -2V on the other end.

So what's the power dissipated by the resistor as a function of the potential difference, V, over the resister and its resistance, R?
