What is the center and radius of this circle? Center: (3, -5); Radius: 7 Center: (3, -5); Radius: 14 Center: (-5, 3); Radius: 14 Center: (-5, 3); Radius: 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

diameter is 14 (distance between two extrem points on either x or y axis ) so radius is =7 from the figuge and knowing radius is =7 centre is at (-5,3 )

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

To find the center, you need to find the midpoint of this blue line segment

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

notice how the red endpoints are the points (-12, 3) and (2,3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay so so the center is (-5, 3) and the radius is 7

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yep the center is (-5,3) once you have the center, you just measure the distance from that center to any point on the circle to find the radius it's probably easiest to pick either red point

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

see this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wow thank you!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
