What is the proper use of the word "impact" in a sentence? i.e. - Please share why you are nominating this program, including how the work impacts the development of good character and ethical leadership in Minnesota.

Your use of the word "impacts" is correct. I'm not so sure about the use of the comma. I think I would drop it, replace it with a semicolon, and change "including" to include.

consequences is another word, but impacts is fine :)
