If Im not mistaken its because he had been gone for 20 years and was dressed as a beggar but he proves it is himself by winning the challenge and tell her what their bed is made of.

You could try from I think part one or two when he goes into the cyclopses cave. That part showed his stuborness and arrogance becuase when he disobeys the godess.
But when odysseus and his men was trap in the cave with the cyclopes his cleverness has influence his men to climb under the sheep to sneak past the cyclopes. Wich is a positive becuase he was loyal to his men.
