Explain whether the polynomials below are written in standard form. If not, use complete sentences to explain how to write the polynomial in standard form. (2 points each) 1. 3a3b – 4ab2 + a2 2. –8x2y2 + 10xy4 – 6x2y

Answer: They are not written in standard form because the terms are not arranged from highest to lowest degree. The first one is in standard form but The second is not. To write the second in standard form, you have to swap the first and second terms. 10xy^4 is a 5th order term (1 x and 4 y's). -8x²y² is a 4th order term (2 x's and 2 y's). -6x²y is a 3rd order term (2 x's and 1y).

anothher person told me it was Neither term is written in standard form (highest to lowest degree). 1. 3a3b –4ab^2 +a^2 should be: a^2 –4ab^2 +3a3b 2. –8x^2y^2 +10xy^4 –6x2y should be: 10xy^4 –8x^2y^2 –6x2y im so confused
