What exactly was the motto of the french revolution, and why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In English it is Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, and the original motto is Liberte, egalite fraternite. they were trying to express the idea of liberty, equality and brotherhood to create a better country. Kinda how America has: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as well as John Locke's Life, Liberty, and Property hope it helped :)
