What is the value of y in in the following system: x+2y=11 y=3x+2

OpenStudy (mrhoola):

do you knnow the first step of the problem ?

OpenStudy (mrhoola):

there is more than one way to answer this problem *

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so,would I be replacing y and putting in x+2y=11?? im not really sure about it though

OpenStudy (mrhoola):

yes- you do need to replace one vvariable to solve for the other ! so if we solve for X in one eq. .. what happens?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then will be able to find the value of y?

OpenStudy (mrhoola):

yes , bc all the X's will be substituted for Y! :D
