you're using two kinds of 'x' terms

one is for the variable and the other is for multiplication

those are supposed to be -6. and C stands for coulombs... it's a physics problem but i just need help with the mathematics part lol

i distributed the 3.5 and isolated the x^2. but i still had an awry answer

You'll have to use the quadratic formula because when you expand out the right side, you'll get a quadratic

no you can't avoid solving it without using a graphing calculator or the quadratic formula because you have a quadratic on the right side
