I am getting different answer from the textbook please see this
For the first value i have 12 but the textbook says 4?
I got y = 12 y = 4 y =4 y =12 y= 28 is that correct?
y depends on x. So we say y = -x + 5, or y(x) = -x + 5. We want to test y(4), y(2), y(0), y(-2), and y(-4). y(4) = -(4) +5 = -4 +5 = 1 y(2) = -(2) +5 = -2 +5 = 3 Can you do y(0), y(-2), and y(-4)?
y=-x+5 when x=4 y=-4+5=1 when x=2 y=-2+5=3 when x=0 y=5 when x=-2 y=-(2)+5=7 when x=-4 y=-(-4)+5=9 x y 4 1 2 3 0 5 -2 7 -4 9
y = -x + 5 when x = 4, then y = - 4 + 5 , y = 1 when x = 2, then y = -2 + 5, y = 3 when x = 0, then y = - 0 + 5, y = 5 when x = -2, then y = 2 + 5 , y = 7 when x = -4, then y = 4 + 5, y = 9 All you do is sub the value of x into the equation to find the value of y.
