the benefits are it allows ships to pass between the atlantic and pacific oceans it was built by the US under the guidance of President Theodor  Rosevelt it was finished in 1913 and opened in 1914 the building started in 1904 the technology that played in the construction was the locks and chanels used in the canal and by having passage from the atlantic to the pacific it helped strengthen the army along with more trade
