Please help me Kyle is pulled back on a swing so that the rope forms an angle of 35° with the vertical. The distance from the top of the swing set directly to the ground is 11 feet. Find Kyle’s height off the ground, x, when he is in the pulled-back position. Round the answer to the nearest hundredth?
Good picture, but try labeling your angle measure and height of the swing set off the ground. Label as much as you can, repost the picture, and see if that helps.
Where do I go from there @stamp
The 35° angle is formed with the vertical, in your picture it forms with the horizontal?
Sorry, i misread it.
What class is this? Also, what are you all currently covering in lecture? It could clue us in on how to solve.
Trigonometry, we're dealing with angles of depression and elevation.
Label the vertical leg of your right triangle as 11-x and label the length of your rope (hypotenuse) as 11 - 2 = 9 ft
It should be evident from there, use tan to find x.
so x=3.85114?
