A person is walking 3 miles per hour. What is their rate in feet per second?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How to change: miles / hour to feet / second miles/hour x 44/30 = feet per second

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?ft/sec=3mi/hr x 1hr/60min x 1min/60sec x 5280ft/1mi = all the units cancel to get to ft/sec. The arithmetic just goes across what is up is upstairs and what is downstairs is downstairs so = (1 x 1 x 5280)/(60 x 60 x 1) This btw is called the factor label method. Works great for really complicated conversions but is good for simple ones like this when first learning.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that conversion factor is 1.466 ft/sec in a mile per hour. so multiply this by your basis 3 mi/hr to get your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thus good thing to remember 1.5 ft/sec is about a mile per hour

finally smart folks have made universal converters try this one, it's about the best. Works for your problem. Choose "speed" http://www.megaconverter.com/mega2/
