what is the area formula for a regular polygon

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i think it has to do with the number of triangles that can occupy it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the thing I was trying to think of doesnt look like some easy formula ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thank you. It's basic alegbra1 and geometry but I can't seem to remember it...Its not for me though Thanks :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i could develop a formula, but it would involve knowing some trig ..... which is what my first idea was. but it seems like there are 3 or 4 basic formulas, all dealing with sin cos or tan trigs, depending on the information given. http://www.mathopenref.com/polygonregulararea.html ifn you know the apothem and side already, then you know the base and height of all the triangles that fill it ....
