Explain this in easy terms so i can understand it plzzzzz

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Which of the following is an equivalent form of the compound inequality −44 > −2x − 8 greater than or equal to −8? −2x − 8 > −44 and −2x − 8 greater than or equal to −8 −2x > −44 and −8 greater than or equal to −8 −2x − 8 < −44 and −2x − 8 less than or greater to −8 −2x − 8 < −44 and −2x − 8 greater than or equal to −8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is the last one becasue you are just breaking the initial inequality up. Can you see that -2x-8<-44 is the first part and -2x-8 greater than or equal to -8 is the second half of the inequality?

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

can u show ur work plz?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well -44>-2x-8 greater than or equal to -8 is a compound of -2x-8<-44 and -2x-8 greater than or equal to -8. If you look, -2x-8<-44 and -2x-8 greater than or equal to -8, if -44 is greater than -2x-8 and -8 is greater than or equal to -2x-8 then they can combine to create the compound inequality −44 > −2x − 8 greater than or equal to −8.

You do not really "do work" to achieve the answer you just find the seperate parts of the compound equality. :)

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Ok, tyvm ur were a huge help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are welcome :)
