La Florida means “Spanish Florida,” which typically refers to Florida and the areas around Florida, today. Though there are no defined boundaries for La Florida, it’s generally referred to what are now the State of Florida, southern Georgia, southern Alabama, southern Mississippi southeastern Louisiana, and other areas along the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Here's a nice picture that seems to illustrate the land that is included in La Florida: http://www.movingonup.com/images/florida_dispatch_map.jpg
