a and b are two planar lines cut by transversal c. The two angles that are marked congruent are corresponding angles. If the two lines are parallel, they will be so according to the theorems and postulates. Look at the attached chart of ways to prove lines parallel. Does one of them indicate why a might be parallel to b, if a is parallel to b.
