A gigabyte (GB) is 2^30 bytes. How many megabytes are in a gigabyte? How many bits are in a gigabyte?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

The generic answer is that there is 1000 megabytes in a gigabyte. Technically, it's actually 2^10 or 1024 MB. Since each byte is 2^3 bits, you can do this to see how many bits are in in 1 gigabyte:\[\large 2^3*2^{30}=2^{33}bits\]
