Please help, find area! stuck.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use triangle with 5|dw:1360263133804:dw|note that both skew lines are 13 get the height

OpenStudy (ja1):

i cant believe i forgot how to find the area XD lets see if i can remember

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know its base times height. SO wouldn't it be 22 + 5 which is 27 times 13?

OpenStudy (ja1):

I have nooo clue, i learned that so long ago and forgot all about it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Jonask im confused?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sry i mean we dont know height get height 13^2=5^2+h^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look at the diagonal its the same on both sides|dw:1360263753146:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still don't get it. Wouldn't you just add 22 + 5 and then times it by 13?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area of parrallelo gram A=ab it has nothing to do with the 5 so the height can be viewed as insidedont add it|dw:1360263898477:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 13 times 22?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I ment 22 times 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well 22 is not a heght it is a (diagonal)slant height hence we have to calculate the real height |dw:1360264160546:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay so 65?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but I thought 5 was the height?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13^2=5^2+h^2 h^2=144 h=12 A=ab

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its still confusing. lol but thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 65, since its 5 the base times 13 the height?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help me on another qt? @Jonask

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

previuos question not correct we got height=12 base=22 A=12(22)=264

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 3rd option

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure for the area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!
