Wildlife managers have estimated the deer population in a certain area to be about 12000. The population is expected to decline continuously at 1%rate. What is the estimated population after 6 years if the rate of decline stays the same?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

720; 12000x.01x6 = 720 So then we read the question fully and 12000-720 = 11280

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Answer is 11280, make sure you don't put 720, do you know how I got this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope :/ i already knew the answer.. i was aiming for explanation :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so it's declining at a 1% rate. 1% is .01. So we do 12000 x .01 which = 120. This is happening for 6 years so we do 120 x 6(years) and get 720. The question says what is the population after 6 years so 12000-720 = 11280

easy ... (they just give me so many formulas and stuff... -.-" ) thxs man
