someone help me please How are exponential growth and decay present in the real world? Give at least 2 examples for exponential growth and 2 examples of exponential decay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do any of ya'll know this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exponential growth-- In a bank , x dollars grows at rate of 5% per annum. the total value of this principal in n years is x( 1 + 5/100)^n. this is a real world example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exponential decay-- radioactive decay is an example of exponential decay in which population after time t decreases exponentially

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhh so those are 2 examples of each?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i gave 1 example of each..let me give another one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The population of a certain insect grows by 5% everyday. If there were 800 insects initially, what will be their approximate population after 20 days?---exponential growth

Each year the local country club sponsors a tennis tournament. During each round, half of the players are eliminated. If 5 players remain after round 6, find how many players participated in the tournament?------exponential decay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh thanks. It'sstill confusing but this made me understand it a little better.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see in an exponential growth....it increases by equal factors like..100..110..121...133.1....146.41...... in this case 100 increases by 10% allt he time or it increase by equal factors
