if the diameter of a circle is doubled, its area is?

Parth (parthkohli):

\(\pi r^2 \) becomes \(\pi d^2 \).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it? a.) doubled, b.) quadrupled c.) increased 8 fold d.) increased 10 fold?

Parth (parthkohli):

Let's look at it this way: \(\pi r^2\) becomes \(\pi (2r)^2\) because the radius is doubled too. So \(\pi r^2 \implies \pi \times 4r^2\)

Parth (parthkohli):

\[\dfrac{4r^2}{r^2} = \cdots\]

Thankyou! :)
