OpenStudy (pratyush5):

I am a bit confused. will it be cyclohexanyl-4-chloro pent-2-one

OpenStudy (pratyush5):

@UnkleRhaukus @AccessDenied @abb0t @goformit100 @Preetha

OpenStudy (abb0t):

the longest chain with most substituents attached to it will be first. The rest will be your groups.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

ketones take priority on a chain if I remeber correctly. And also, you want to get it in the lowest number possible.

OpenStudy (pratyush5):

yup i have started from the left so oxygen with the double bond is second . is dat right ?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

It's a: __________________-pentanone

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Try naming it first. in IUPAC, you can name molecules in various ways, since you know some molecules have common names and stuff. As long as the priority is right and so is ur numbering.

|dw:1360320866243:dw| are yu numbering it like dis ?
