please explain me how to change a poem into song? please explain me, because i always lose for that.

Well I'm a chorus major at my preforming arts high school and its very easy. All you do is make a rhythm and you put your poem to a melody. It can be anything you want, honestly. Anything that sound good. It just depends on your tastes in music. You could even try putting they lyrics of your poem to the melody of your favorite song and see how that goes. But of course you cant steal that songs melody, That is copy writing. But its something to at least start you out on.
