That's a trapezoid..
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes its a trapezoid
OpenStudy (anonymous):
srry i messed up when typing the question
OpenStudy (badhi):
can you see two similar triangle there?

yes the 10 and 8 ones
OpenStudy (april115):
Yup
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i need to know how to solve for X
OpenStudy (badhi):
If the intersection point of KM and NL is O tell me what are the similar triangles? ("10, and 8 ones" are clear to understand)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
im confused

Among these 4 triangles, what are the similar triangles,
$$\Delta KOL$$$$\Delta NOM$$$$\Delta KON$$$$\Delta LOM$$
(O is defined above)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
KON and LOM

is X=13?
OpenStudy (hesan):
is this Iso sceles trapezoid
OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (hesan):
then x = 11
OpenStudy (april115):
how?
OpenStudy (hesan):
this is because, in isosceles trapezoid the diagonal have same length i.e they are equal in measure
OpenStudy (hesan):
therefore 8+13 = x +10
and by equating x = 11
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh i get it thanks

u welcome
OpenStudy (april115):
i still don't get how you get 11?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
13+8=21 10+?=21 ?=11 @april115
OpenStudy (april115):
ohhhhh
OpenStudy (april115):
Lol thank you

no problem
OpenStudy (badhi):
Then this cannot be an isoceles trapezoid.
If it was according to hesan x= 11
also since KOL is similar to NOM (which I was trying to say)
$$\frac{8}{13}=\frac{10}{x}$$
this gives gives a different answer
OpenStudy (badhi):
the correct answer is 16.25 and this is not a isosceles trapezoid (since the mentioned triangles are similar for any trapezoid)
