the cordinates of the three verices of a triangle are A(-1,1) B(2,5) and C(5,1) find the area and perimeter of the triangle...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you familiar with vectors?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no not really

hero (hero):

You don't need vectors to figure this out. Just grab some graphing paper and plot the points. Find the distance between A and C. That will give you the base. Then find the point that is halfway between A and C. Label it M. Then find the distance between M and B. That will be your height. Then use A = .5(bh)

(@Hero , I agree. It just makes computation easier.) Anyway, the diagram is not representative of where the points actually are in the plane. The point is that the perimeter is sum of the distances. |dw:1360428277560:dw| The area can be given by...it seems that @Hero 's got it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AREA=12 PERIMETER=16

hero (hero):

Whose diagram is not representative of where the points are in the plane?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mine.

hero (hero):

Thanks @hell.i-care for providing the answer only with out showing any steps whatsoever as to how you arrived at that. Giving answers only doesn't help anyone learn anything.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks you guys
