In this assignment, you will be using a recipe of your choosing and using ratios to convert the recipe to make enough for 50 people. This assignment is worth 50 points. Step 1: Choose a recipe that has at least 4 ingredients. Step 2: List all the ingredients and the amount of each ingredient in the recipe. Also list the number of servings it makes. You do not need to list the directions, only the ingredients. [10 points] Step 3: Choose at least four of the ingredients to convert. For each ingredient, set up a proportion that will find the amount needed of that ingredient to make a recipe for 50 servings. Showing all work, find the amount of each of the four ingredients you chose. [10 points per ingredient = 40 points] Step 4: Submit all work and answers to your teacher for grading.

i dont understand can you help? i feel like this is science

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@fallonbanks @PSI

OpenStudy (fallonbanks):

idk sorry -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for trying tho :)

OpenStudy (fallonbanks):

ur welcome :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think about the proportions for the ingredients like this: Normally, you would use 4 cups of (just an example) flour when making a loaf of banana bread that would serve 5 people. Since you are serving 50 people, you would have to use 10 times more flour in order to feed all 50 people. Do you understand, now? I can't do the assignment for you because then you wouldn't be learning anything :?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okai first things first go find a recipe that has only four ingredients and come back and tell me what you got. I know these kind of assignments need a step by step process to understand sometimes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what can i use like do u think honey?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Honey"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just google a recipe like for bread and if it has 4 or more ingredients use that and write down the ingredients and how much to use of it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Once you get that list it here and I'll help you with the rest

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't go to google images and find one that has the amount of servings it makes as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i do milk instead?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just use a regular recipe cx here I'll get one for you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/old-fashioned-cupcakes-recipe/index.html Okai here is one. It makes 24 servings so this should be fairly easy to convert. Well anyways make a list of all the ingredients and write down next to it how much of each ingredient you need.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ty :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write down only 4 ingredients cuhs that's all this assignment is asking for cx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol ok i'll use these: 2 sticks unsalted butter, cut into cubes 4 large eggs 1 cup whole milk 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okai forget the part where it says to cut into cubes. and what we are going to do now is convert those four ingredients so that they fit a recipe for 50 servings. And right now they only make 24. So hold on let me get you the conversion on how to do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okai so what you are going to do is take the number of servings you have right now which is 24 and divide it by the number of servings you want which is 50. So you're going to divide 24/50 tell me when you have the answer for that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.48

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okai now take one of the ingredients and mulitply it by that number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait don't do that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whatcan i multiply it by lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hold on I was looking at how to make a recipe smaller xc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okai no that was right.....just looks weird, okai change the eggs and butter and pick something with ounces or cups

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okai so I see what I did wrong, I meant to say put 50/24 which gives you 2.083. So you are going to mulitply by that number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know how I said you need to multiply everything by .48 because I said divide the original servings over the one you want? That is only for making a recipe smaller. When you want to make a recipe bigger you have to divide it by the number of servings you want by the number you already have so 50/24 would be the equation you need to make your recipe bigger.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so were done :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pretty much, just mulitply everything by the decimal number or you can keep it a fraction c:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ty very much :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem c:
