Help, multiple choice!

@abb0t I don't even have letters?
108. A line that intersects two parallel lines forms supplementary angles.
So how did you get 108?
Supplementary angles by definition are two angles whose sum is 180. Since one angle is 72, 180-72 = 108.
Oh alright thank you. Can you help me with another one? @khoala4pham
That last part confused me. Isen't the midpoint the 1 base + 2 base / 2 ?
Ignore that last message. For this problem, the midsegment by definition must be parallel to the trapezoid's base. For equations with parallel lines, their slopes are equal. Moreover, the midsegment must be in between the two values (i.e., the y intercept must be between -9 and 5. ) Thus, m = -1 y = -x-2
You're right. The midsegment is the average sum length of the bases. But in this multiple choice question, only one equation has a -1 slope. The midsegment has no property of having half the height.
So whats the equation to find the answer?
The first one. The midsegment always lies in between the two bases. +7 does not lie between +5 and -9. Only -2 does.
There is no equation to solve really because you don't have sufficient information to know the lengths of the bases. They only give you the parallel lines' equations.
Are you positive?
How about this. Suppose you're really stringent about finding this midsegment. Then what are the lengths of the two bases? Only with that information can we know what the length of the midsegment is. The only other piece of information is that the midsegment must be parallel to the bases and that it must be contained in between these two bases, not further out.
