Is my answer right?

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

what calculation did you do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just thought that the other side is parallel to that side? @jtvatsim

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

|dw:1360457902932:dw|when dealing with a kite, you have two sides that are equal to each other and two other sides that are equal to each other like in this picture.

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

none of them are necessarily parallel

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

So, the perimeter is : P = 2a + 2b, where a is the length of one pair and b is the length of the other pair

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

The question wants the length of the opposite side so by using the picture we see that the opposite sides will have different lengths

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

Plug into the equation for perimeter and we get: 52 = 2(19) + 2b All we need to do is solve for b and we will know the length of the opposite side.

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

See if that helps. :)
