Perimeter of a rectangle is 490 meters. Express area A as a function of the L, and state the domain of its function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

L(L-40) Domain is [0,490]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let L be length and W be width, then :\[2L+2W=490\]\[L+W=245\]or\[W=245-L\]Now\[A=L\times W = L (245-L)\]domain is the set of values of L for which this makes sense, in this instance when the area is non-negative. This requires:\[L\geq0\]and\[L\leq245\]but you could could debate the equalities here ie. do you accept a rectangle with side length of zero?
