Well the squirrel most likely consumes nuts & berries and the fox preys on the squirrel. Therefore my choice would be D.

Energy passes from the PREY, to the PREDATOR. 

None of the other choices would make sense. 

For instance, look at B. 
If energy were to pass from rabbits to plants, 
that would mean that the rabbits would have to be EATEN BY the plants.
