Jacob is standing at the point (5,2).If he walks 3 blocks south and two blocks to the left, where is Jacob standing now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if he walks 3 blocks south, his y position is changing by -3, so now he's at (5,-1). He then moves two blocks to the left, so his x position changes by -2. Now, he would be at (3,-1).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The options are a) (8,5) b) (8,-1) c) (2,-1) d) (2,5)

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

plotting points helps too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ya, try plotting the point (5,2). Move that dot down by 3, then left by 2. That would give you (3,-1), so I'm not sure about your answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@JonathanJ Sorry I wrote the problem wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, did you figure it out though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. thanks
