URGENT HOW TO FIND SURFACE AREA FOR SHAPES?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any specific shape?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, what is the surface area of a right rectangular prism with a height of 10, a width of 4, and a length of 6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DRAWING TIME!!!|dw:1360588433431:dw| You see three rectangles, right? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, i only see one rectangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

224 units cubed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:/ Well, so much for drawing this... anyway, this is the best I could do for drawing a rectangular prism. Each face is a rectangle, anyway. Now putting in the dimensions|dw:1360588564211:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you show my how you got that answer, did you use a formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so on a reactangle, there 6 sides okay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so take the area of each side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and since theres 2 sides that have the same, times by 2, so 10*4=40*2 and so on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i understand woud you know how to get the surface are for a tetrahedron like this?dw:1360588927209:dw|
