(The graph is below) What is the correct interpretation of the slope of the line in this graph? A. Every hour, the number of liters decreases by 0.5 liter. B. It takes 0.25 hour for the water to decrease by one liter. C. It takes 0.5 hour for the water to decrease by one liter. D. Every hour, the number of liters decreases by 0.25 liter.
As you can see from looking at the two points on graph and noting that it's a straight line (linear), it takes 2 hours for the level to drop 1L. If it takes 2 hours for it to drop 1L, much does it drop in 1 hour?
1.5?
2
Not quite. Can you determine the slope of the line? Remember that \[Slope=\frac{Rise}{Run}\]
Look at the graph again. For every 2 hours it moves down 1L...so you end up with \[Slope=\frac{Rise}{Run}=\frac{-1}{2}\]Therefore it decreases by 1/2 L every hour.
so its b?
No. It decreases by 1/2 L every hour. Another way to say 1/2 is 0.5L.
So its A!!
BINGO! :)
Thank you thankyou soo much!!
no problem!
