OpenStudy (klimenkov):

\(x\cdot \cos 24^\circ=11\)

OpenStudy (phi):

See this http://www.khanacademy.org/math/trigonometry/basic-trigonometry/basic_trig_ratios/v/basic-trigonometry for the main idea. you need a calculator to solve this problem you know the ADJACENT side to angle 24º and you want to find the HYPOTENUSE in SOH CAH TOA CAH is what you use Cosine = Adjacent/Hypotenuse that means cos(24)= 11/x you need to do a little algebra to "solve for x" multiply both sides by x (you want x up top) x cos(24) = 11 now divide both sides by cos(24) (you want x by itself) x= 11/cos(24) now use a calculator

OpenStudy (klimenkov):

Please, accept my condolences @phi . We have one more ungrateful user.
