A function is given. Determine the average rate of change of the function between the given values of the variable. f(x) = 6 − x2; x = 2, x = 2 + h

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its: \[m=\frac{y_{2}-y_1}{x_2-x_1}=\frac{6-(2+h)^2-6+2^2}{2+h-2}=\frac{4h+h^2}{h}=4+h\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for trying but thats not the correct answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess it's 2 :) using derivation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

average rate of change equals find the slope
