the side of an equilateral triangle is 2 inches shorter than the side of a square. The perimeter of the square is 31 inches more than the perimeter of the triangle. Find the length of a side of the square

OpenStudy (aravindg):

let x be side of square

OpenStudy (aravindg):

4x=31+perimeter of triangle

OpenStudy (aravindg):

now side of equilateral triangle =x-2

OpenStudy (aravindg):

perimeter of equilateral triangle=(x-2)+(x-2)+(x-2)

OpenStudy (aravindg):

substitute in our above qn and solve for x

OpenStudy (aravindg):

gt it @jeilyn ?
