the side of an equilateral triangle is 2 inches shorter than the side of a square. The perimeter of the square is 31 inches more than the perimeter of the triangle. Find the length of a side of the square

let x be side of square
4x=31+perimeter of triangle
now side of equilateral triangle =x-2
perimeter of equilateral triangle=(x-2)+(x-2)+(x-2)
substitute in our above qn and solve for x
