The triangle is exactly half an equilateral triangle. This means that the shortest side is half the hypothenuse. So now you have 2 out of 3 sides, you can use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the 3rd. On the other hand, if you are familiar with the concept of a 30-60-90 triangle (which it is) you'll know the ratio of all three sides: a : 2a : a√3 (going from shortest - hypothenuse - 3rd side), so you can calculate x and y directly!
