7x2 - 9x - 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@tcarroll010 is it that hard

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(7x +5)(x - 2) I think is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(7x )(x ) +5 -2 -5 +2 +2 -5 -2 +5 +10 -1 -10 +1 +1 -10 -1 +10 Looks scary with 8 choices, but you can eliminate the last 4 right off as they give either an "x" that is too large or is at least not "9" or "-9". So here, you work with the 4 combinations of +-2 and +-5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, because 5 * -2 = -10. -2 * 7x = -14x... 5 * x = 5x... -14x + 5x = -9x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is he right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now, for a similar reason, you would eliminate choices 3 and 4, so again, you are dealing with choices 1 or 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is 1 right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can't just go with an answer that someone just throws out. If you follow this logical train of thought, you will always be able to get to the right answer. I eliminated 5-8 and then I eliminated 3 and 4, so you only now have to try 1 and 2. Yes, #1 is right Good job!
