A family spends 1/10 of its annual income for housing, 1/4 for food and clothing, 1/5 for general expenses, and 2/15 for entertainment. What fractional part of their income is spent on these items altogether? A. 11/12 B. 1/7 C. 41/60 D. 6/41

Add each of the fractions together. 1/10 + 1/4 + 1/5 + 2/15. To do that, you need to get a common denominator. In this case, the lowest common multiple of each of those is 60. So make the bottoms 60 on all of them so 6/60 + 15/60 + 12/60 + 8/60 = 41/60.
