Determine whether each ordered pair is a solution of the given equation. 2x+7y=-4; (2,-5)

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

what is the solution of an equation mean? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@chihiroasleaf a solution is (2,4)

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

well.., a solution of an equation \( ax+by = c\) is an ordered pair \(x,y\) that satisfy the equation... so.., to check whether an ordered pair (x,y) is an solution of an equation, you should substitute the value of x and y into the equation...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@chihiroasleaf did that already, what's next ?

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

that's all..., you have an equation \(2x+7y = -4 \) you have an ordered pair \( (2,-5) \) change the value of x and y ... and see whether the left side equal to right side.. if it's equal.., then it's the solution... can you continue it? :)
