When someone tells you to "cite your sources," they are telling you to provide a link and/or give information on where you read the information.

For example, if I was writing a paper on paper, I'd read information about it on, say, wikipedia. Then, I would cite my sources by providing a link to said wikipidia article, or wherever else I got the information.
