Pleaseee help !!!!! 6. Write the ratios for sin A and cos A. The triangle is not drawn to scale. (1 point)

soh cah toa. sin = opposite/hypotenuse, cos = adjacent/hypotenus, tangent = opposite/hypotenuse. In this case, since A is the angle, 14 is the adjacent side, and 48 is the opposite side. 50, of course, is the hypotenuse. Can you take it from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry lol tangent = opposite/adjacent. pneumonic devices only work if you get the terms right hah

I think i worked it out @mattvlaw . is sin A= 14/50 and cos A= 48/50 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

very close but actually I think it's the other way around. See how 14 is the leg of the triangle closest to angle A (not counting the hypotenuse), and 48 is the one directly "opposite" the angle A? so if sinA is opposite/hypotenuse, it would be 48/50, and cosA is adjacent/hypotenuse which would be 14/50.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

interestingly enough, if you were doing sinB and cosB, you would get 14/50 and 48/50, because the leg adjacent to A is opposite B and the leg opposite A is adjacent to B. Not what this question is asking, however.

Okay , thank you for your help ! this stuff is so confusing

np, it just takes some getting used to and memorization, unfortunately.
